Angelo Koenen Agenturen (AKA) was founded in 2015 by design aficionado Angelo Koenen. The company is relatively young, but its team has many years of experience in the international world of sanitary, kitchen, living and contract business. AKA is the Dutch intermediary for some of the most prominent Italian design brands:
Kartell (The Netherlands and Flanders), Wall&decò, Botteganove and Bonaldo.
The collections of these brands contain amongst others: tables, chairs, sofa’s, beds, living-systems, outdoor furniture, interior accessories, ceramic tiles, mosaics, wallpapers, rugs and lighting.
Innovation, sustainability, premium quality, craftsmanship and authenticity are important core-values that connect the collections represented by AKA, just like the collaboration with internationally renowned designers like Patricia Urquiola, Rodolfo Dordoni, Philippe Starck, Vico Magistretti, Joe Colombo, Marcel Wanders, Studio Pepe, Carlo Bartoli, Karim Rashid and Alain Gilles.
The team visits, informs and trains retailers, project-designers and architects throughout the Netherlands. Besides that, AKA offers support at events and several international fairs like IMM Cologne and Salone del Mobile.
The AKA team consists of Angelo, Veronique and Willem Koenen.
Angelo and Veronique first met at the design academy in Maastricht, where they were being taught by renowned designers like Marcel Wanders and Hella Jongerius. During the years after their education successful careers followed, in which they both gained a lot of experience in the world of interiors, productdesign and sales. Angelo and Veronique are married and have three sons.
Willem is Angelo’s cousin. They grew up together in the same neighbourhood and went to the same school. After studying Roman Languages and Cultures in Nijmegen, he pursued a successful career in export and international sales. Willem is married, has two daughters and is part of the team since 2018.
